A recently divorced man’s longing for isolation is tested when he has to share his solitary life with a noisy kookaburra and his deceitful brother comes to visit.

Karen Liebau McPherson (Writer/Director)
Born and raised in Germany, Karen emigrated to Australia at 21. Now a Melbourne-based writer/director, she recently completed her Master of Film and Television at the Victorian College of the Arts. Her short films have screened at festivals worldwide, winning multiple awards. Her latest work, Laugh With Me, earned her the Best Australian Director award at the 2023 London Directors’ Awards and a nomination for Best Direction in a Student Film at the 2023 Australian Directors’ Guild Awards.

Lea da Silva Gomes (Producer)
Graduating with first-class honours from the VCA in 2021, Lea produced her first short film Laugh With Me, which premiered at Flickerfest in 2023. Most recently, she produced the short Hope and is developing her first feature film. Alongside this, she works in animation production as a supervisor on Universal Basic Guys (Seasons 1–3). Before transitioning to screen, Lea spent 15 years running a bilingual children’s theatre company, Spectacular Spettacolo, where she produced, wrote, directed, and performed in original productions.
