KAREN LIEBAU MCPHERSON – writer, director

Born and raised in Germany, Karen emigrated to Australia at the age of 19. Now a Melbourne based writer/director, she has recently completed her Master of Film and Television at the Victorian College of the Arts. Her short films have played at Australian and International Film Festivals including Flickerfest International Short Film Festival, Dances With Films, Salento International Film Festival and Lorne Shorts, winning multiple awards. Her latest short film ‘Laugh With Me’ also earned her the Best Australian Director recognition at the 2023 London Directors’ Awards and she was nominated for Best Direction in a Student Film at the 2023 Australian Directors’ Guild Awards.
